Cooling Fan Applications by Equipment Type
A fan is only as good as its fit to the enclosure it cools. The right answer for a 350 kW EV charger cabinet is wrong for a PTZ camera housing, even when both need “a 24 V fan”. These pages set out what each type of equipment actually demands — airflow against real impedance, ambient temperature, IP protection, control signal and service life — and point to the YUNFAN models we build for it.
YUNFAN Power has manufactured cooling fans in Shenzhen since 2005: DC brushless axial fans from 20 mm to 280 mm, AC axial fans from 80 mm to 280 mm, EC fans, DC centrifugal blowers from 40 mm to 120 mm, plus fan guards and filters. More than 50 countries are supplied directly from our Dongguan factory.
Find the fan for your equipment
| Equipment | What drives the choice | Typical sizes | Guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| UPS & power supply | continuous duty, 45–60 °C exhaust air | 60–172 mm | UPS & power supply |
| CCTV & security housing | sealed small housings, rain and dust | 25–80 mm | CCTV & security |
| EV charger | filter and louver pressure drop, IP68, PWM | 92–280 mm | EV charger |
| LED stage lighting | narrow duct path, 70 °C air, acoustic limit | 40–97 mm | LED stage lighting |
| Telecom cabinet | filtered forced air, 15-year target | 92–280 mm | Telecom cabinet |
| Medical device | low noise, low vibration, speed stability | 25–92 mm | Medical device |
| 3D printer | 24 V rail, ducted part cooling | 30–50 mm | 3D printer |
| Welding machine | dust and metal particles, 60–70 °C | 92–280 mm | Welding machine |
Why we start from the application, not the part number
Two fans with identical 120×120×38 mm frames can differ by a factor of three in static pressure, and by ten in bearing life at 60 °C. Quoting from a size alone is how buyers end up with a fan that is noisy, or one that stalls against a dirty filter after six months. So we quote from four numbers instead:
- Operating point — the airflow you need at the pressure drop your enclosure actually presents, not the free-air figure on a datasheet.
- Inlet ambient — measured at the fan, after the equipment has been running for an hour, not the room temperature on the spec sheet.
- Duty and life — hours per day and the L10 life your warranty assumes, which decides between sleeve, hydraulic and dual ball bearings.
- Interface — voltage rail and tolerance, connector, lead length, and whether the controller needs FG tachometer or RD locked-rotor feedback.
What every one of these pages has in common
- Models listed are ones we already tool — no custom tooling charge for the sizes shown.
- Voltage, bearing, connector, lead length and IP level are configurable on the same frame.
- CE and RoHS declarations, plus SGS test reports, are available for the models we ship.
- Samples for engineering validation are quoted separately from production, so you can test before committing.
Send us the equipment type, the space you have and the ambient at the fan inlet, and we will come back with two or three options and the reasoning behind each. Request a selection or read how our OEM and ODM service works.
